WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE ECONOMY NOW

By Professor Bob A Rabbo

Job growth is slowing, but demand for workers is strong. Inflation is high but not consumers are spending more in some areas, but cutting back on others. Job openings are high but falling, while layoffs are low. Current GDP third 2022 quarter increased at annual rate of 2.6 percent in the third quarter of 2022, in contrast to a decrease of 0.6 percent in the second quarter. Even in the best times, it can be hard to get a handle's on what is happening in an economy with 150 million workers and 20 trillion worth of annual outpu

How America Grew: Definitive Economic History In this context and content, how does economic growth occur during the last century and a half. It is the marriage of innovation, history and economics might sound like an enormous agenda. It is the area of innovation fueled over , and does the U.S. face more challenged economic future

Innovations come along only once in history in a country's growth , so much unique innovation changes Gross Domestic Product , (GDP) a measure of total flow of economic income activity in the domestic economy in a given year .Look at the innovation in the invention of telephone and its spread , and later the contribution of cell phone and smart phones , and the Internet boom between 1995 and 2001 which the per capital growth accelerated to 2.5 percent .Now how to measure a country's success ? Two measurements have been used to get sense of how well a country is doing. One is GDP (the amount a country earns). The other is its unemployment rate . Further, economic growth can be defined as the increase or improvement in the inflation - adjusted market value of the goods and services produced by an economy over a certain period of time

The question to be answered here has the the US economy entered recession? The answer is the US likely didn't slip into recession despite negative GDP growth. The low unemployment rate today is an argument against recession. Low unemployment rate among the indicators pointing to labor through the first half of 2022 , it has declined from 3.9 percent to 3.6 percent
